The World Spades Championship® has negotiated room rates for players with Rio Las Vegas and has a room block secured. If you would like to book a room at Rio Las Vegas, please use the link on this page to utilize these discounted rates. There are a limited number of rooms available in this block.

Rooms in the Ipanema Tower of Rio Las Vegas have recently undergone incredible renovations. We recommend booking the Ipanema Rooms, if possible.

Room rates and resort fees are subject to all applicable state and local taxes. Rates quoted are based on double occupancy, and additional persons per room are $35.00 per room per night. There is an additional fee of $30.00 per room per night to guarantee guest rooms with two beds.
All rooms not reserved by September 3, 2024 will revert back to the property for possible resale and prices are no longer guaranteed. Negotiated rates only apply to the Masquerade rooms and when filled, prices are no longer guaranteed. Please plan accordingly.
Discounted Resort Fee
A daily discounted resort fee of $30.00 per room per night (discounted from $40.00 per room per night) will be charged in addition to the rates above.
This fee includes:
- Two (2) guest admissions per day to the Fitness Center (does not include use of the spa)
- In-room internet access to include two (2) devices per room per day
- Complimentary self-parking
- Unlimited local phone calls (no long-distance or international calls)
- Access to Rio pools

Early Check-In
Rio Las Vegas | Wednesday, October 2, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Early, on-site check-in is available Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Brasilia Ballroom registration desk. We highly suggest utilizing this check-in time on Wednesday evening.
Welcome Reception
The Rio Pool at Rio Las Vegas | Wednesday, October 2, 8 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Kick things off with a poolside Welcome Reception open to all participants from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The evening will feature light hors d'oeuvres, an open bar, a DJ and Vegas-themed entertainment. Come relax, enjoy the entertainment and have a cocktail before the tournament begins.
Participants can bring one guest for $30. RSVP, additional information and payment options will be sent via email before the start of the event.
Tournament
The Brasilia Ballroom at Rio Las Vegas | Thursday, October 3 - Saturday, October 5
- Every session will include three (3) hours of Spades play.
- A fifteen (15) minute break will be included during every session of play. The timer will be paused during the break.
- Advancing players should prepare for multiple rounds per day (except Thursday).
Day 1 - Thursday, October 3 1,024 Players
ROUND 1
- Every player must check in with event staff before playing in their first session. See Official Tournament Rules for more information.
- A full buffet-style meal will be provided to all participants before the start of their first session on Day 1.
- There will be 256 players per session. Participants will only play in one session in Round 1.
- All players will be assigned to a session before the event, and event staff will communicate this through email.
- The top two (2) players from each table will advance to Round 2.
Onsite Check-In: 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Session 1: 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Session 2: 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Session 3: 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Session 4: 8:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Day 2 - Friday, October 4 512 Players
ROUND 2
- There will be 256 players per session. Participants will only play in one session in Round 2.
- Winners from Sessions 1 & 2 in Round 1 will play in Session 1.
- Winners from Sessions 3 & 4 in Round 1 will play in Session 2.
- The top two (2) players from each table will advance to Round 3.
Session 1: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Session 2: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
ROUND 3
- All remaining 256 players will be playing in Round 3.
- The top one (1) player from each table will advance to Round 4.
6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Day 3 - Saturday, October 5 | Championship Day 64 Players
Every player that makes it to Championship Day will be eligible for prize payouts.
ROUND 4 - QUARTERFINALS
- All remaining 64 players will be playing in Round 4.
- The top one (1) player from each table will advance to Round 5.
- A full buffet-style breakfast will be provided to the remaining 64 players before Round 4. The meal will be served in the player’s lounge.
8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
ROUND 5 - SEMIFINALS
- All remaining 16 players will be playing in Round 5.
- All players in Round 5 will advance to Round 6.
1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
ROUND 6 - CHAMPIONSHIP
- There will be 16 players in Round 6 and only one session.
- All first-place players from Round 5 will compete on the championship table (1st-4th).
- All second-place players from Round 5 will compete on the 5th- 8th table.
- All third-place players from Round 5 will compete on the 9th-12th table.
- All fourth-place players from Round 5 will compete on the 13th-16th table.
